Simon Deporres | Sold Out Sundays 2.0

You're agenda for Sunday 21 November 2010:

  1. Shift your whole day a couple of hours earlier

  2. 1:30pm Make your way to Sold Out Sunday's 2.0

  3. 1:50pm Arrive at Max Mogale's Studio

  4. 2:00pm - 8:00pm Amaze yourself with amazing-ness

Most people who know me really well know I have an un-cure able obsession for fashion. It's just unfortunate that none of my OCFDs (obssessive compulsive fashion disorder) are dedicated to South African fashion brands. Is that my mistake or the mistake of South African designers ... I think the mistake of the designers.

So maybe South Africans shouldn't be fashion designers. Let's be honest, all the clothes look the exactly same. It's European fashion with African prints. That's it! So why should we buy clothing which is an imitation of European fashion? You tell me.

However, luckily we live in a time where there is hope for the South African Fashion Industry. There are always those few brands which break the mould and let us think twice about South Africa's fashion state. Which brand could this be? Glad you asked.

Simon Deporres, a men’s label which in my opinion promotes the idea of being a well dressed man. The look they promote for me is highly influenced by the look of a Cape Town guy. But it has a lot more class and you can tell that the people who wear these clothes didn't buy their class, they were born with it. Maybe Simon Deporres can give you some class.

Started by Mpilo Ngcukana and Simon Pocock this brand is slowly becoming the elite mens wear brand that will conquer South African Men's fashion. (I'm not sure why I limited it to South Africa ... It's brilliant enough to be international.)

I'm honestly sick and tired of seeing young 'men' dress like cheap imitations of Soulja Boy and Justin Bieber. The time to dress well is here and with a brand like Simon Deporres there really is NO excuse to dress like a sixteen year old American. Let's leave America in America and bring Cape Town to the world.

Your agenda for this Sunday has already been written. If there is anything you don't understand, read it again until your understand. In simple words, on Sunday, go expose yourself to the talent of brilliant South African designers.
