Warby Parker - Fall 2013 Collection Launch

Before you go choose your next pair of prescription glasses, read this post. New York based company, Warby Parker launched their Fall 2013 Collection today and if you want to stay ahead of the pack I suggest you get yourself a pair.

The Fall 2013 Collection is inspired by the early sixties in America. Current fashion trends are transporting us back to the 60s so why not let your glasses that do the same.

The Fall 2013 Collection debuts five new frames which include
  • Ames
  • Ripley
  • Rowna
  • Holcomb
  • Ellison
The name Warby Parker is derived from two characters from a journal by the Beat Generation writer Jack Kerouac. The names of all the new frames are 'reverent bow to some of our favourite literacy references of the time'.

Warby Parker significantly reduces the cost of prescription glasses and at the same time donates a pair to those in need. In July 2013, Warby Parker announced that they had distributed 500 000 pairs of eyeglasses to people in need.

All their glasses are sold online and in a limited number of showrooms in America. Designing all glasses in-house and not having to pay rent for physical stores help lower the costs of the glasses. However a lower cost does not mean lower quality. Frames cost $95 and polycarbonates prescription lenses and anti-reflective lens coating are all included in that price.

With the nerd and hipster movement embodied in subcultures all over the world, glasses have become a staple which means that even if you don't need prescription glasses, you should get reading glasses.

When choosing your pair of glasses, be sure you keep your personality in mind. Personally, all glasses represent a certain type if personality.
For example, the marbled sandstone Holcomb glasses, which happen to be my favourite, remind me of the woman who is ahead of her time. In fall, or autumn as we call it in South Africa, everyone tends to wear dark colours, why not go in a different direction and wear colour.

Also when choosing a pair of glasses, you can't go wrong with taking the Whiskey Tortoise pairs. Tortoise shell looks beautiful on everyone and is a classic look for glasses.

With glasses being the new fashion accessory be sure you choose the right pair and the right brand. You cannot go wrong with a pair of Warby Parker glasses and while you are out looking stylish, someone else will also benefit from your purchase.

The Hobbs style is great! I love the look of two-toned glasses.
