Alessandro Isola - Stumble Upon Coffee Table

Remember when you were younger and not allowed to play in the house? You would always manage to lift the one corner of the carpet and that was enough to make sure you were never allowed to run inside again. Well Alessandro Isola took the aesthetic of that carpet flick and turned it into a beautiful piece of furniture.

If you look down you may see a crease, a fold or a wrinkle in the carpet for instance. Signifying a movement or activity that happened on the surface of that very floor space. Highlighted as a small furrow, ridge, or crease on a normally smooth surface, caused by crumpling, folding, or shrinking. This usually causes a slight annoyance and is firmly pulled straight. Stumble Upon Coffee Table enhances those folds and curves creating flexibility and contrast.

Let's be completely honest, this coffee table is a 2-in-1 piece of furniture that should be sold during infomercials but it is too beautiful for that.

I am not the biggest fan of coffee tables, carpets, rugs and mats. I think it all gets in the way when it is time to clean but I definitely would have something like this in my home. I believe in function over form when it comes to furniture for the home but this coffee table blurs the lines between form and function.

It's the piece of furniture for a home that has everything and children who are are allowed to run around inside.
